An interesting fact about Hugh Jackman is that the media always try to refer to him as a “bad boy” most probably because of his looks in some of his films (remember Swordfish). But in reality the Australian actor has never been involved in any “bad boy” problems – no drunk driving, no drug addiction, no cheating, no prostitutes. Hugh is just a multitalented person (he is also a singer and a dancer) and a family man. He’s been married to his wife, actress Debora-Lee Furness, for 13 years and has two adoptive children, Oscar Maximillian and Ava Eliot.

His life before becoming a famous actor was relative “normal”. Hugh Michael Jackman was born in Sidney, New South Wales, Australia on 12. October 1968. He is the youngest of 5 children of English emigrants. Hugh and his siblings were raised by his father after his mum moved back to England when he was 8 year old. Hugh was School Captain during his final year of high school. Then he graduated Communications and Journalism from the University of Technology Sydney. After that, he started drama at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts. Jackman was lucky to get a starring role in the ABC TV drama Correlli (1995) on the set of which he met his future wife. His career started developing first in Australia and than, after the memorable Wolverine role in X-men (2000), he found his place on Hollywood’s A-list.

Interesting facts about him:

Hugh loves sushi, wears contact lens and his favourite word is “panache”. He also hates smoking and is left handed. He once said in an interview that he is a fan of the Friday The 13th film series, and he became an actor because he wanted to play Jason in one.

So what is so special about Hugh Jackman? Well, perhaps it’s his coolness and freshness. He doesn’t take his job too seriously. Hugh reveals: Acting is something I love. It's a great craft that I have a lot of respect for. But I don't think it's any greater challenge than teaching 8 year olds or any other career. In my life, I try not to make it more important than it is and I just hope that rubs off on the people around me.

Hugh has charisma. His appeal makes you watch his movies from the beginning to the end with a mouth wide open. Yes, he is a gifted actor there is no second opinion about it. But he’s so many other things too. He acts on Broadway, he has his own production company, he sings and dances, he’s a committed father and a husband (he takes his family on location) and perhaps all these things makes him sexy. Female fans carry a torch for him. He represents the new generation of successful men, the one who can find the right balance between all his engagements and interests and his family. People’s magazine declared him Sexiest Man Alive for 2008 and I’m sure his female fans are very happy for him.
