The story that director Steve Shill is showing us is a very simple even boring one. Successful businessman Derek Charlez (Idris Elba) have the perfect life – beautiful and caring wife (Beyonce Knowles), a cute son, a new house in the subpurbs and a very good paid job. His problems start when a new secretary (Ali Larter) comes to his office. As you can guess she becomes obsessed with Derek and tries to start an affaire with him.
The strong points of the film are the good actors. There is a real chemistry between them. Even though there are no naked scenes during the whole movie you can feel the sexual tension in the air. I liked especially Beonce’s part. She is not just a housewife who is waiting for her husband to come home. Her strong personality plays a key role in the film. The end was also really surprising which makes the movie worth watching.
The weak point – the predictability of the events. What the secretary does in order to seduce Derek is nothing new. We’ve seen it in many other movies. Even though Larter is very convincible in her part there is not enough deepness in her character. Her actions have not enough justification except she’s just crazy.
However, the movie is already on third place in the American box offices. It will be released in UK on 29th of May. You can see the trailer here.
